Form signed Charles Henry Newman.
* George Richard Edwin MINTER 1897 - 1914.
I don't think these 1901 and 1911 censuses tell the whole story.
1. In Q4 1901 at Lambeth RD, the birth of Dorothy MINTER was registered (Lambeth 1d/404). The enhanced version of the GRO index gives the mother's maiden name as ASKEM.
2. A Dorothy Minter was baptised at All Saints, South Lambeth on 1 November 1901 - parents shown as John and Louisa Minter, address 41 Jeffreys Road, Clapham. This was the address of the Clapham Maternity Home.
3. The 1911 census, includes a Dorothy (spelled Doriethy) MINTER, aged 9, born Clapham, as the adopted daughter of Henry William and Emma CLOW, 10 Emerson Place, Southwark, London.
4. No other trace of Dorothy Minter (or of John and Louisa Minter) has been found but a Dorothy
CLOW married Thomas W G COLLINS in Q2 1922 (Southwark 1d/23). This was probably Dorothy nee Minter but I can't be sure.
The conclusion I draw from the above is that after George Minter died, Louisa met someone else (probably not Charles Henry NEWMAN) had a baby (Dorothy) and arranged her adoption by the CLOWS.
