Notes	October 2011: Email contact from John Harper in Canterbury, New Zealand, who writes: "I found your Minter website by chance while searching for descendants of John Lawrence Harper (1829-1882) and his wife Harriett Hunt (c1829-1893). Emily, born at Tonbridge, Kent c1866 was their youngest daughter, their other children being George born 1860, Albert born 1861 and Margaret born 1864. John & Harriett were married at the Church of St Peter & St Paul, Tonbridge 23 April 1859. John, who was a coachman, was born at South Raynham, Norfolk, a son of Humphrey Harper (1804-1853) and his wife Ann Clarke. The Harpers had lived in South and West Raynham since the 1720s, before which they were settled at Stratton Strawless, north of Norwich, from about 1638. Although this is not my direct line of the family ( I am a gg grandson of Humphrey's eldest brother John Harper of South Raynham) I'm interested to learn what became of other branches and their descendants. I have also found that photos of very distant cousins have turned up marked likenesses from time to time, giving us some idea perhaps what some of the ancestors who lived before photography might have looked like. If you have any information about Emily and her family or would like to know more about her Harper background let me know. My great grandfather and two of his brothers (1st cousins of Emily's father John Lawrence Harper) settled here in Canterbury, New Zealand in the 1850s. They had one brother who remained in Norfolk - Lawrence Harper."
