According to the South Africa, Biographical Index, 1825-2005 (at ancestry.com), Sidney arrived in Transvaal, South Africa in 1889. He was president of the SAIMM 1903-04 and a member of the South African Association for the Advancement of Science, past President of local Chemical and Metallurgical Society and an examiner for Cape University. The Index entry mentions two children.
Sidney, by now a metallurgist, and his second wife Jane Sophie visited England in 1927. They arrived at Tilbury on the Durham Castle from South Africa on 6 May 1927 aged 61 and 43 respectively, having travelled first class. They returned to South Africa on 9 September 1927.
Details of Sidney's second marriage and his wife's death haven't been found.
