| Notes |
- Arthur appeared with his parents in censuses to 1891 but wasn't there in 1901. James Earley has discovered (December 2012) an Arthur Richard Minter who was a trooper, number 25529, in South Africa during the Boer war, in the Commander in Chief's Bodyguard between 13 December 1900 (joined the Bodyguard at Cape Town) and 12 June 1901 when he was discharged at Johannesburg. Arthur may have joined the Bodyguard from another regiment: "KCR 2862" is written beside his name in the Nominal Roll. The latter, together with a description of the Bodyguard, can be found at http://www.angloboerwar.com/?option=com_content&view=article&id=307
It's not clear what became of Arthur after he was discharged from the Bodyguard.
From Ancestry's UK, Civil Divorce Records, 1858-1911:
It's probable that Arthur was the co-respondent cited in the 1899 divorce of Arthur James LOWE and his wife Florence Louisa, who married in Cape Town, South Africa on 25 December 1889. Arthur petitioned for divorce on the grounds of his wife's adultery with Arthur Richard Minter, who was said to be the father of a child born on 22 March 1898 at 188 Harold Road, Plaistow, West Ham, the address at which Arthur and Florence were living together. [The child was probably the one registered in Q2 1898 at West Ham RD as Ernest Richard Minter].
I can't find any trace of Arthur and Florence subsequent to the divorce case. They may have returned to South Africa. Their son Ernest was in England in 1917 when he enlisted in the South African Overseas Expeditionary Force, but no sign of him later on.
July 2014: I think Ernest was probably he who married Katherine BUGLEHOLE in Q3 1918.
