His previous school was shown as St Mary Stoke. 1911 census: William, 26, lodged at 39 Cromwell Road, Colchester. He worked as a canvasser. The following 1939 Register entry may refer to William, although the birth date doesn't tally with his birth registration: at 177 Victoria House Whitechapel Road, Stepney, London (apparently a lodging house for about 300 men) Minter, William born 23 Nov 1884, single, railway porter.
