  Notes	Married secretly in Grantham in 1916. [But the marriage was registered in Kingston]. Charles was in the Royal Navy Air Service during WW1 on convoys to Russia, then transferred to the newly-formed RFC. Was gassed in France and invalided out. Managed a skating rink at Winchester and finally many years as chief timekeeper for Southdown Omnibus Co., Portsmouth until retirement. (A rather grumpy man according to Cliff Minter). 1921 census: at 20 Duncan Road, Southsea, Hants (both MINTER), Charles Henry (head, 29y 2m, married, born Portsmouth, Hampshire, cycle & motor fitter with F Hiscutt, cycle & motor agent, 59 Queen Street, Portsmouth) and Gladys Primrose (wife, 28y 2m, married, born Willesden, London, home duties). 1939 Register: at 5 Frogmore Road, Portsmouth C.B., Hampshire MINTER, Charles H born 28 Apr 1892, married, timekeeper ---- MINTER, Gladys Irene born 19 Apr 1892, married, barmaid.
