  Notes	It is thought that Sarah Judson was 'Sarah the bastard child of Mary Judson', baptised on 10 November 1835 in Castle Bytham, Lincs (entry in Castle Bytham Parish Register reported by Judith Kinnear). It would appear that Sarah's mother either married John Hale or at least set up home with him since in 1841 in Castle Bytham we find: Benjamin Hale (75, ag lab), John Hale (25, ag lab), Mary Hale (25), Sarah Hale (5) and Elizabeth Hale (9 months). The IGI suggests that John Hale was probably born about 1814 in Burton Coggles, Lincs, the son of Thomas Hale (probably born about 1793 in Burton Coggles) and Sarah (maiden name unknown, born about 1797 in Burton Coggles). They probably married about 1816 in Burton Coggles. The 1841 75 year-old Benjamin Hale could have been John Hale's grandfather. The 1851 census has John and Mary Hale still in Castle Bytham with 5 children, not including Sarah: she was probably the 15 year-old house servant on a farm in Castle Bytham but using the name Sarah JUDSON rather than Hale. Cause of death puerperal fever.
