    • 1871 census: Robert (20) was an apprentice on the vessel 'Hawthorn'.

      1881 census: at 77 New Market Street, St James, Great Grimsby, Lincolnshire, Robert (30, fisherman), Caroline (29), Jane H (6, scholar), Ada M (5, scholar), Frances A (1) and Ethel C (3 months).

      1891 census: at 198 Victor Street, Clee with Weelsby, Lincolnshire, Caroline ('wife' 39), Jane (16, dressmaker), Ada (15, teacher), Frances (11, scholar), Ethel (10, scholar), Amy (8, scholar), Robert (5, scholar) and Elsie (8 months).

      May 2008, email from Ron Minter:
      "I was contacted via Genes Reunited by a Valerie Green who was looking for a relative of hers - Richard Dunn. It seems that Richard Dunn was apprenticed to Robert Minter.
      Valerie found out from the NE Lincs Archives that Robert Minter was skipper of a fishing boat called 'The Lord Lyon' from Grimsby which sank off the coast of Iceland on 25 July 1891. The log book of the boat was also lost so the names of the crew are not known. Valerie presumes that her relative was also on board and lost at sea."
      Subsequent to the above, Valerie obtained a copy of Richard Dunn's seaman's record. It shows that he was born on 18 October 1871 at Brighton and indentured to Robert Minter in June 1887, for 5 years, and lodged with Robert Minter at 198 Victor Street, Clee. The record is endorsed 'Drowned off coast of Iceland. Supposed date 25 July 1891 ex "Lord Lyon" (all lives lost)'.

      1901 census: at 62 Orwell Street, Great Grimsby, Lincolnshire, Caroline (widow, 49), Ada (25, board school teacher), Amy (18), Robert (15, engineer's clerk) and Elsie (10).

      1911 census: at 65 Daubney Street, New Cleethorpes, Lincs (6 rooms), Caroline (head, 59, widow, married 38 years, 10 children, 7 living, 3 died, born Dovercourt, Essex), Robert (son, 25, single, clerk (engineers), born Grimsby, Lincs), Amy (daughter, 25, single, shop assistant (stationers), born Grimsby, Lincs), Elsie (daughter, 20, no employment shown (at home), born Grimsby, Lincs), and 3 boarders, Reuben J GIRLING, William J COTWILL(?) and Ralph H GROAT.
      Form signed Robert Minter.

      1921 census: at Caldmore House, Yarra Road, Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, Caroline MINTER (69y 3m, widow, born Dovercourt, Essex, home duties) was staying with her son-in-law Alfred Jessop PEARCE and his family. Also there was Caroline's daughter Amy MINTER.
