Previous item on same page is for son Luther THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Tue., March 31, 1931, p. 2, col. 2: (edited) James Buchanan Minter, age 70, well known citizen of this county, died Sunday afternoon at his home at Firestone following a stroke of paralysis suffered a short time before. Funeral services will take place from the late residence at Firestone this afternoon and interment made in Oakwood Cemetery here. Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Eliza Jane Minter and several children. === The paper dated Fri., 4/3/31, page 6, col. 5, contained the following information: (edited) Funeral services for James Buchanan Minter, age 70 years, who passed away Sunday night at his home at Firestone after a lingering illness of several years, were conducted at his late home Tuesday evening and interment was made in Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Minter suffered a stroke of paralysis Friday morning, from which he never rallied. He was married 49 years ago to Eliza Jane Eggleston of this county. His two oldest children preceded him to the grave a number of years ago. For 25 years he was a laborer for Williamson-Hedgecock at the brick yard, first beginning this work at Fontaine, Va. Later he moved to Firestone, where he continued this work until his health gave down about four years ago. He was not a member of any church, but was a strong believer in the Primitive Baptist faith. Mr. Minter leaves to mourn his loss his widow and the following children, Moses Minter of Firestone; Peyton Minter of Leaksville, N.C.; Mesdames Tony Compton of Ridgeway; Grover Kelley and Eldridge Austin of Fieldale, and two brothers, J. Harden Minter and Joe Minter, of this city. Flower bearers were grandchildren of the deceased, including Mamie Minter, Luther Minter, Bernice Austin, Eleanor Austin, Louise Austin, Whitten Austin and Elizabeth Kelly. Despite inclement weather, many relatives and friends of the family attended the funeral and burial services Tuesday.
