Thomas's wife Elizabeth S CHATFIELD (married, 36 or 38, born Lewes) was in High Street, St Anns, Lewes with her father George BUSHBY (66), his (second) wife Agnes A BUSHBY (59), her two unmarried sisters, Mary R BUSHBY (34) and Ethel A BUSHBY (19), an unmarried brother, Arthur BUSHBY (28) and her son Leslie CHATFIELD (10, born Lewes).
Edward CHATFIELD (14), Montague CHATFIELD (13) and Alfred CHATFIELD (11), all born Lewes, were scholars at a school in Montpelier Crescent, Brighton, Sussex.
Thomas CHATFIELD may have died in 1899: aged 53 Q1 1899 Steyning 2b/192. It's unclear what happened to his wife, not found in 1901 or 1911.
1901 census:
Edward G CHATFIELD (24, shipping clerk, born Lewes) was boarding at 48 Sandbourne Road, St Paul Deptford, London. Head of the household was Sarah A JOHNSON (34, teacher, born Rotherhithe).
Montague CHATFIELD (23, no occupation) and Ernest CHATFIELD (22, clerk to timber merchant), both born Lewes, were boarders at 'Wellington Villa', Cooks bridge, Hamsey, Sussex.
Leslie CHATFIELD (20, bank clerk, born Lewes) was a visitor at 23 Mount Street, St George Hanover Square.
Irene CHATFIELD (16) and Olive CHATFIELD (13), both born Lewes, Sussex, were pupils at a school at 9 Argyle Road, Southborough, Kent.
1911 census:
Edward George CHATFIELD (34, single, merchants clerk, born Lewes) was a boarder at 39 Eastdown Park, Lewisham, London.

Leslie CHATFIELD (32, private means, born Lewes, Sussex) and wife Jose (22, married 1 year, no children, born London, Middlesex) lived at 9 Maddox Street, St George Hanover Square (7 rooms).
Olive Mary CHATFIELD (23, single, born Lewes) was a nurse at a nursing home at 10 Rosslyn Hill, Hampstead, London.
October 2015: email contact from Donald (Don) Howell. Thomas's daughter Irene Elizabeth Lash CHATFIELD was Don's maternal grandfather's sister. Don said:
"... Thomas Chatfield died in 1/1/1899 at "Corsica" Montefiore Road Brighton and her mother Elizabeth Smith Bushby died on 12/4/1935 in Hove Sussex.".
In a later email, Don says, of Thomas & Elizabeth's sons:
"There were four boys Edward George (b1876), Charles Montague (b1877) Alfred Ernest (my grandfather b 1878) and Leslie (b1880). The three older boys all came to Australia and died here in the 1950s. Leslie did a lot of travel but finished up in England. He married twice once to Josephine Collins the actress* and after separation married May Jeffrey died in 1950s. Edward never married, Charles married in Australia and Alfred married my grandmother (Florence Pope) in 1906 in Brighton. "
