    • National School Admission Registers & Log-books 1870-1914 at findmypast.co.uk:
Benjamin born 10 Mar 1897 of Grundisburgh, was admitted to St Mary's Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School, Woodbridge on 10 July 1911. He later left to go to Grammar School.

www.oucs.ox.ac.uk has a transcript of letters sent by 15103 Pte Arthur Goodchild, Suffolk Regt (date of birth 25 November 1896) to his mother* from September 1914 (enlisted) to July 1916 (discharged?). AG enlisted in Kitchener's New Army although underage and with defective hearing. In making the transcription some spelling errors have been corrected and punctuation introduced to break up some long sentences. The letters are discussed in "The Goodchilds of Grundisburgh: Four Brothers in the First World War" (privately printed 2008, available from henryf@liverpool.ac.uk)

      * Arthur's parents were Joseph and Selina E Goodchild née Salmon, who were living in Grudisburgh at the time of the 1901 census.

In a postcard, possibly sent from Felixstowe about 21 March 1915, Arthur says 'Ben Minter is here, I didn't know he had enlisted'. This probably refers to Benjamin Jack Minter who was born a few months after Arthur.
