THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Tue., June 5, 1928, p. 1, cols. 2 & 3 [edited].
Clarence Minter, an employee of the Norfolk and Western Railway Company, died Friday night, June the first in a Roanoke hospital. Mrs (sic). Minter was fatally burned Friday morning about two o'clock while working in a boiler on the West End yards in Roanoke, Va. with another employee who was also fatally burned by steam being turned into the boiler through mistake.
Mr.Minter was 29 years old and a son of W. H. Minter and Bell Bray Minter of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
He leaves to mourn his loss his widow, mother, father and the following brothers and sisters: Cabell Minter, Misses Sarah, Katie, Christine, Maggie and Rachel Minter of Winston; Mrs. Ben Gravely of Roanoke and Mrs. Elmer Draper of Detroit, Michigan, besides a number of other relatives and friends.
The body was brought to Dyer's Store Sunday afternoon and interment was made in the Minter burying ground in the presence of a large circle of sorrowing friends and relatives.
Elder J. P. Washburn of High Point N. C., conducted services at the grave. Among some of the out of town folks who attended the burial were Mr. and Mrs. George Minter and son Turner Minter of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. and Mrs. J. C. Minter of Roanoke, Russell Pace, Archer Stultz, Mrs. and Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Hodge of Roanoke, Mrs. and Mrs. Frank Thomasson, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thomasson of Winston-Salem, Elder and Mrs. J. R. Washburn and children of High Point, Mrs. and Mrs. Lewis Minter of Roanoke, Mr and Mrs. Percy Minter of Stoneville, and Mrs. and Mrs. Willie Wagoner of Stoneville, and Jessie Stultz and Posey Stultz of Roanoke.
