- From findagrave.com, Dece 2014:
THE DAILY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Sat., Feb. 29, 1936. Edward Fletcher Minter, 49, well known Henry county farmer residing near Dyer's Store met almost instant death Friday afternoon when he suffered a fractured neck as the result of a fall from a porch of Dr. J. E. Richardson's hospital. located at Mountain Valley, 15 miles east of Martinsville. Minter had gone to the hospital seeking treatment and was sitting on a pile of wood on the porch of the building, baking in the sun when it was thought he dozed off to sleep, finally toppling off the porch to the ground about 8 feet below. Minter was a lifelong resident of the Dyer's Store community and a son of Silas J. Minter and the late Mrs. Minter, prominent citizen of Henry county. His wife, who before their marriage was Miss Annie Gregory of this county, died about three years ago. Four children, Fletcher, Randolph, Ivy and Lucy Minter survive. His father, four brothers, Owen, Hassie, Harvey and Irvin Minter, and three sisters Mesdames Lewis Byrd, W. J. Donovant and Harry L. Dove also remain. funeral services will be held from the late home Sunday afternoon, with burial to follow in the cemetery at Leatherwood Primitive Baptist church.
The following note appears at findagrave.com on the record for Edward's brother William Owen Minter:
William and Susan Mae Nunn Minter raised Lucy M. Minter, Ivy May Minter and Owen Randolph Minter. They were the children of Edward Fletcher Minter and Annie M. Gregory. Edward died in 1936 and Annie died in 1933. Edward was a brother to William Owen Nunn [this should be William Own «u»Minter«/u», not Nunn]. So Lucy is a niece, Ivy May is a niece and Owen Randolph is a nephew.
William O. Minter built, owned and operated the Church Street Grocery for more than 30 years. He then owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Collinsville until retiring.
