In 1871 Daniel (39, bootmaker employing 1 man) and Emma (38) were living at Westanger, Ickham with William SHARP, 62, widower, head, b. Ickham (Emma's father), their daughters Minnie B (5, scholar) and Florence J (1), and Julia SHARP, boarder, 18, b. Ickham.

In 1891 at 56 Wincheap, Thanington, Kent, Emma (58, living on own means) and Florence J (21, telephone operator). Julia B SHARP (36, shop assistant) was still with living with Emma but now described as Emma's sister, born in Boulogne. Her brother Thomas W. SHARP, 53, widower was also there. This would have been the widowed husband of Martha, Daniel's younger sister. For some reason Daniel was lodging with Charles and Eva TWYMAN and Charles's mother Sarah, in Erith, Kent. Daniel was described as Uncle, 59, born Wingham, Kent.
There is an otherwise unexplained entry in Kelly's Directory for Kent, 1895 for Daniel Minter, 2 Dane John Grove, Canterbury. It's not clear who this relates to if not to this Daniel.
In 1901 Daniel (69, living on own means) and Emma (68) were together at 19 Norman Road, Canterbury, with daughter Minnie B (30, telephone operator). Julia SHARP, now described as half-sister, 40, laundry book keeper, born Ramsgate, was still there.
