    • Cliff Minter (Australia), July 2007: Austin enlisted in the Australian Army 21/8/1942 service no. NX 114101. He was a Warrant Officer 2 when discharged. Confirmed by an entry in the National Archives of Australia:

      December 2015: Justin Schultz writes: just a quick note on my great grandfather's service history. He had 2 service numbers, the first being in 1941 which was N282838 for unit EC.VR Depot Randwick where he was an ambulance driver. Then in 1942 this number changed to NX114101 unit 9 M.A.C which later on he became an army cook around 1943 where he gained the qualification of qualified cook class 1 trade group 2 Sgt cook. On the 16th of October 1945 his discharge had taken effect from the A.I.F with the rank of W.O.2. His whole service history lasted from 25/11/1941 to 20/08/1942 with the C.M.F and then from 21/08/1942 to 16/10/1945 with the A.I.F. No war badges or merits were issued.
