July 2013. Penny Dent (a descendant of Dent the publisher) was the best friend of Gill (now Wynn-Ruffhead), my EV crossword companion, who lives in Montgomery. Gill told me that when she got polio and was unable to ride, Penny Dent acquired her horse. Then she, Penny, got polio and it left both of them with an almost identical limp. This was when they lived in Digswell, near Welwyn Garden City. They were both friendly with Robyn Wells (who also lived in Digswell), a grandaughter of H G Wells.

January 2016: Gill Wynn-Ruffhead's daughter Mackenzie Sorensen emailed me reminding me of the connection between her mother and the Minters.
