      "I understand he [Bertram] served in the Royal Flying Corps in the 1st world war. He and my grandfather went into business together garage/parts/car sales etc. His engineering skills and Henry's ability to make money made them a successful partnership.

      The above is confirmed by British Royal Air Force, Airmen's service records 1912-1939 at findmypast.co.uk, June 2014:
      Joined the RFC on 29 June 1915, then a telegraphist, next of kin George C MInter, 87 Mortimer Road, Willesden, father. Transferred to RAF Reserve 20 March 1919
